🔮
CIPHER

Claim territory on a 6×6 grid.
An AI watches your every move — stay unpredictable.

Goal

Reach 22 territory points (60%) before the AI — or hold the most after 15 rounds.

Territory

Direct placement = 1.0 pt. Adjacent empty cells = 0.5 pt (influenced). Cells both players influence = 0 pts (contested).

Disruption Tiles

Win 2 rounds in a row → earn 1 tile (max 2). Tap Use, then tap a cell to neutralise all AI influence in a 2-cell radius.

Unpredictability Meter

Shows how varied your last 5 moves are (0–100). Low = AI is reading you. High = AI is uncertain. Watch it and change your pattern.

AI Tiers

Tier Progression

Win 3 in a row → advance. Lose 3 in a row → drop one tier.

Expert Tips
Stay unpredictable: Vary your quadrants — Pattern and Nexus AI exploit repeated habits fast.
Save disruptions: Use disruption tiles against dense AI clusters, not on isolated cells.
Influence matters: You don't need to own a cell to score it — adjacent influence counts for 0.5 pts.

Cipher

Goal

Claim territory on a 6×6 grid against an adaptive AI. Win a round by controlling at least 22 of 36 points before the round ends. Play 15 rounds — the AI gets smarter every match.

Territory

Direct control = 1 pt (your colour fills the cell)
Influenced = 0.5 pt (adjacent to your cells, not the AI's)
Contested = 0 pt (both players influence it)

Disruption Tiles

Win 2 consecutive rounds to earn a disruption tile (max 2). Tap it on any cell to neutralise all enemy influence within a 2-cell radius — a powerful swing move.

AI Tiers

  • Spark — plays randomly
  • Reflex — blocks your last move
  • Pattern — detects your quadrant bias
  • Cortex — offensive and defensive scoring
  • Nexus — full session memory, grows sharper every 3 wins

Tips

  • Stay unpredictable — Pattern and Nexus exploit repeated quadrant habits.
  • Use disruption tiles when the AI has a strong cluster, not just any time.
  • Influence matters — cells you don't own can still score 0.5 pts each.

Why this sharpens your mind

Strategic Thinking

Balancing offense, defense, and resource management against an adaptive opponent builds the same executive function skills used in chess and long-term planning.

Pattern Recognition

Detecting the AI's strategy tier and adjusting your playstyle trains flexible thinking — one of the highest-order cognitive skills.
